About
Plume Fossil mostly came about because I decided dangit, I need to learn how to properly code a website. I’ve puttered around with WordPress sites before, but learning to code up a website from scratch was a skill I was lacking in. At first, I thought about doing a personal art site, but I already have a main website, and I almost felt more pressure making a personal one. So I decided, heck—why don’t I just make a website for my interests. And lo and behold, here we are!
I’ve been into dinosaurs since my childhood. I grew up an hour away from the badlands in Alberta, and frequented trips to the Royal Tyrrell Museum, which forever left an impression on me. Coupled with the rise of wonderful paleo-documentaries like Walking with Dinosaurs, which came out at juuust the right time, I was instantly hooked on the prehistoric world.
I’ve also been into Pokemon since my childhood—surprise! I was juuust a bit young during the 90s Pokemon boom, but still old enough to enjoy the anime as it aired on TV, which my first introduction to Pokemon. I was hooked immediately. Something about the creatures was really endearing to me, and continues to be.
About Me
I’m an artist from Canada who just likes to write about Pokemon and dinosaurs... evidently. You can call me Tas. I don’t wanna get too into the weeds, because I do have an entire personal website for this, but I mostly make comics, including the graphic novel Lost Time which is indeed about dinosaurs!FAQ
Why “Plume Fossil”?I wanted something that combined the two topics here without it being too obvious. The Plume Fossil in Pokemon is the fossil item that becomes Archen, one of my favourite fossil mons. Plume is also just a fun word to say.
Are you a palaeontologist?
No, I am not. Just someone with a keen interest in it. That means I’m very likely to make mistakes, so take everything I say with a huge helping of salt. I do my best, but I’m no scientist!
Your first Pokemon game?
Ruby for the GBA!
Your favourite dinosaur?
A deeply evil question I never have a solid answer for. Contenders for the spot are probably Microraptor, Yutyrannus, Albertosaurus or Therozinosaurus.
Your favourite prehistoric animal?
An easier question… slightly. Either Dimetrodon or Quetzalcoatlus.
Your favourite Pokemon?
Also way too many!! For simplicity we’re gonna say it’s Archen, for the website. Yay! Archen!!!
